Working from a cast allows the student to focus on the elements of drawing, proportion, and tonal values while also learning the basics of portraiture with a model who doesn’t move. In this workshop students can draw or paint a cast of their choosing. Drawing and painting from plaster casts of classical sculptures makes up some of the core exercises in our academic program and has been a part of classical art education dating back hundreds of years.
